Mandy Southan takes the art of Shibori, in which fabric is bound, clamped or stitched before dyeing, and goes beyond the traditional blue and white to create fabrics in a fabulous array of colours, patterns and textures. Biographies

Mandy Southan trained at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design where she gained a degree in Fashion and Textile Design. She designs and produces printed and hand-painted silks for retail and commission. Mandy is a founder member and chairman of the Guild of Silk Painters. She teaches art, silk painting and design at Hastings College and she gives silk painting demonstrations to art groups and societies. Mandy lives in Hastings and exhibits in galleries in East Sussex.
